Nonprofit Strategy
Strengthening the systems that sustain meaningful work.
I partner with nonprofits, foundations, and companies on the planning, structure, and day-to-day operations that help mission-driven efforts function well. Much of my work falls into two areas: development support and grantmaking advisory.
My background spans more than fifteen years across higher education, community nonprofits, and private philanthropy. It includes roles ranging from back-office fundraising operations to front-line fundraising, as well as service on nonprofit boards and grantmaking committees. Those experiences shape the way I approach this part of my work: with a deep appreciation for both the big picture and the details that help good work — and the people behind it — function well and keep going.
Development Support
I help nonprofits strengthen the systems, team structure, and internal operations that make fundraising more effective.
This can include:
-
assessing fundraising operations and development capacity
-
writing and reviewing cases for support
-
shaping team structure, staffing, and job descriptions
-
helping boards engage more fully in fundraising
-
supporting clearly scoped special projects
Grantmaking Advisory
I advise family foundations and companies on grantmaking, with a particular interest in thoughtful local giving.
This can include:
-
grantmaking process design
-
research and identification of prospective grantee organizations
-
guidance on nonprofit landscape and fit
-
giving approaches grounded in a funder’s goals and values
